It’s no secret that Software Engineering is a lucrative career especially in the digital age that we’re in. Software Engineers are in demand, and it’s no wonder they’re one of the highest paid professionals in Singapore.
To put things in perspective, the median salary for a fresh graduate in Singapore is widely reported to be around $3500. Based on our data, Junior Software Engineers earn a salary of $4500 monthly on average.That being said, how much are Software Engineering Interns paid in Singapore? Well, it depends on the company that you’re in.
The National University of Singapore (NUS) recommends that a tech intern be paid ‘at least $1000 per month’.
On the other hand, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) mentioned that NTU interns should be paid at least $1000 to $2000 per month.
That being said, even though the baseline seems to be $1000 for tech interns in Singapore, there are companies who are paying more to get their hands on a promising intern.
Based on some research that we did, we found out that Silicon Valley Companies are known to pay up to $3k per month for interns.
Most startups usually pay between $800 to $1000 for their interns, although there are some that pay between $1500 to $2000.
The most surprising piece of information that we have is that Quantitative Hedge Fund Firms pay up to $10,000 for their interns. Full time juniors in Quant firms usually earn around $21,000, though these firms only hire the best of the best!
As a general rule, you should expect a minimum pay of at least $1000 per month as an intern in Singapore.
