In our latest salary report, we looked at 15 companies and found out that 6 of them pay their Software Engineers more than 20% of what the rest of the market pays. This means that if you work for one of these six companies, you'll be earning more than most other Software Engineers out there.
We compared the compensation packages of these companies to the market and found out that most of thescompanies pay their Software Engineers at least 10% more than the market's median. In fact, 40% of these companies pay 20% more than the median, which is great news for job seekers!
We also discovered that although a company's popularity doesn't necessarily mean they pay their Software Engineers well, salary is still an essential factor in attracting top talent. So, it's no surprise that companies like Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix, and Google (FAANG-ish) pay their Software Engineers very well - with compensation packages ranging from 35% to 50% more than the median.
All in all, this analysis shows how crucial competitive salaries are in attracting and retaining top talent in the Software Engineering industry.
We looked into the Glassdoor ratings of 2546 different companies. From our analysis, we found out that the ratings at the 50th and 75th percentile are 3.8 and 4.2, respectively.
Furthermore, out of the 15 companies we evaluated, 4 of them had ratings that were at least at the 75th percentile. However, we also noticed that smaller companies had fewer ratings. As a result, there was a noticeable increase in the number of companies with a rating of 5.0.
Despite these anomalies, we can safely assume that the companies we studied rank much higher than the market's 50th percentile if we disregard these outliers.
