The annual day of overloading on flowers and chocolates is here - Valentine’s Day! For all of you developers out there hustling and nearly at the end of this week's sprint, take some time off to reflect on love. Your love for coding, your love for your friends, family, colleagues, and yourself for pushing your codes to production (It’s tough, remember to give yourself some credit!).
If you’ve been cooped up at home this entire week because of the Covid-19 situation, take some time to embrace this weekend of love outdoors. But if you prefer a (love)bug-free weekend, here are some things you can do instead:
Nothing like rekindling your passion through a good old meet up with other fellow developers. While many events may have been cancelled in light of the ongoing Covid-19 situation, we still managed to find three great ones that you can check out.
Hear from the guys at Thoughtworks, a global tech consultancy firm, on what tech recruiters are looking for when hiring. This is part of their ongoing free series of webinars for developers.
Learn how to make one of the most popular social-messaging applications, Telegram, from scratch!
Alright this one’s a cheat because it’s technically on the 15th…. But how about you call it an early day on Friday, and head over for a little study session on Saturday morning? What better way to improve than to learn from others, and teach others around you.
Don’t feel like meeting anyone? We get it… the internet is our best friend too anyway. If you’re not up for socialising this Valentine’s Day, that’s alright. Maybe taking on this exhaustive list of known Bug Bounty Programs is your thing instead? That’s right, treat it like a practice game. And if you really succeed, let us know.
Podcasts! We love them. There’s quite literally a podcast for almost everything. Perhaps bounty programs are too intense, so we like to listen to podcasts that do that for us.
A podcast that’s about hackers, breaches, APTs, hacktivism, cybercrime, and all the things that dwell on the hidden parts of the network. Darknet Diaries is dramatic, full of suspense and really makes what we do as developers seem meaningful!
These are considered the top podcasts for developers today, with a strong focus on all things tech, from latest CSS tricks, to career talk, it's a breezy listen.
For a more global perspective of the moving trends in the tech world, This Week in Tech is one of the staples in the podcasting diet of many developers. And it’s easy to see why, just tune in.
A film about how Cambridge Analytica came to symbolise the dark side of social media in the wake of the 2016 U.S. presidential election. It’s not heavy on the technical aspects of tech, but interesting to learn about the role of tech in one of the biggest scandals of the 21st century. Cool!
Based on Richard K. Morgan's cyberpunk noir novel of the same name, Altered Carbon is set to release season two in less than two weeks. It’s time to catch up!
We travel back in time to witness the birth place for all developers, the story of Compaq. From the rise to eventual demise, of the unlikely upstart that would alter the future of computing and shape the world as it is known today.

Patrick Shyu, a popular YouTuber with 500k subscribers covering tech, programming, Big Tech companies, money, growth, recruitment and life tips. The ex-Google/ex-Facebook tech lead and multi-millionaire app entrepreneur is a fast growing Youtuber with a large following.
If you’re a fan of Apex Legends, the game has just released it’s Valentine’s Day Rendezvous event which will be available from now until 18 Feb only.
As it turns out, according to this article, “Apex Legends duo mode is back just in time for Valentine’s Day. The fan-favorite mode will be part of the game’s Valentine’s Day Rendezvous event which will also include a few new cosmetics.”
But maybe none of the above might entice you as much as sleep does… we know sleep deprivation is essentially a staple to the developers gene. Maybe it’s time to treat yourself right this Valentine’s Day, and finally get that 10 hours of sleep you deserve.
Whatever it is you choose to do, we hope you have a great Valentine’s Day, from all of us at NodeFlair!
